Swimming is inevitably synonymous with summer holidays, and often indispensable for a successful family holiday. By opening up swimming in the Lac aux Dames this summer, Samoëns promises you a very different holiday!
Do you want easy access to the most beautiful hiking spots? A shuttle bus service will take you there (almost) free of charge all summer!
And if you want to reach the summits of the Grand Massif, our ski lifts are open every day!
Finally, if you want to ride an electric mountain bike, we have prepared 4 routes for you to discover the Giffre Valley.

Cool down in the Lac aux Dames

It is the novelty of the summer: authorized swimming in the Lac aux Dames, in the heart of the leisure center. Every day, from July 1th to September 08 from 10 am to 6 pm, swimming will be supervised in the larger lake. Natural grass beach, shower, everything is designed for a pleasant moment. Water temperature between 21 and 22°.

There are also two restaurants, multi-sports areas (zip-lining, paintball, golf), and a paragliding landing area.

It is the ideal place to refresh yourself after a hike in our beautiful mountains!

Shuttles all summer long

You are coming on holiday to Samoëns without a car and want to discover the most beautiful spots in the valley? Opt for the shuttles.

All summer long, several lines will allow you to access :

  • The Cirque du Fer à Cheval and discover this exceptional setting. Opt for the morning shuttles, and visit the “Bout du Monde”. It is an easy and unforgettable hike.
  • The Cascade du Rouget, one of the biggest waterfalls in the Alps, also known as the Queen of the Alps. It is not to be missed!
  • The Col de Joux Plane. From there, the panorama on the Mont Blanc is just exceptional. And if you want to be even more amazed, take the direction of the Bourgeoise, a summit easily accessible (45 minutes walk). The view is even more incredible.

These same shuttles serve several points in the valley, between Verchaix, Morillon, Samoëns, and Sixt Fer à Cheval

Access to the shuttles is €2 per day of transport. Access is free for children under 5 years old.

The summits of the Grand Massif by ski lift

From the first weekend in June, the Grand Massif ski lifts are open to everyone: pedestrians, mountain bikers and paragliders. They are open 7 days a week, from 9am to 5pm for the Grand Massif Express gondola lift. The Chariande Express chairlift will be open from July 7 days a week from 9.30am to 4.30pm. It’s the ideal, easy way to get to the summits. (information given for information only, subject to opening or modification)

In Samoëns, take the Grand Massif Express gondola up to 1,600m, then after a short easy walk, board the Chariande Express chairlift. In a few minutes, you will reach the Tête des Saix at an altitude of 2,100m, with an exceptional 360° panoramic view. In the focus, of course, its majesty the Mont Blanc!

The Giffre Valley by electric mountain bike

Nearly 100 kilometers of electric mountain bike routes have been mapped out and marked to invite you to discover the Giffre valley:

  • In Samoëns, the Chapels circuit, blue level of difficulty: 28km and 750m D+ (positive difference in altitude). Mathonex, Vercland, Les Vallons, Chantemerle… as many hamlets as there are chapels.
  • In Sixt, the Gorges des Tines circuit: blue, 19 km, 600m D+.
  • In Taninges and Mieussy, the Chapelle Saint Grat circuit: red, 35 km, 1 100m D+.
  • Along the Giffre from the Lac Bleu de Morillon to the Rivière Enverse: the Grand Bois circuit: blue, 14 km, 340 D+.
