Enjoy an unforgettable August in the heart of the Alps and its mountains, thanks to the activities and events on offer in the village of Samoëns. These highlights will punctuate local life for a lively summer bursting with activities.
In Samoëns, mountain guides are an integral part of local life. Indispensable for discovering the riches of the Haut-Giffre mountains in complete safety, the guides are being honoured for one day. At the end of the morning, they will parade through the streets of the village to traditional music. In the afternoon, they will be presenting all the alpine disciplines that can be practised in Samoëns and the surrounding area: climbing, slacklining, abseiling, climbing the treetop pole, AEM (accompagnateur en moyenne montagne) activities (treasure hunts, introduction to knots, etc.). Workshops and film screenings on the mountains are also on the programme.
Samoëns will resound to the sounds of Ireland, thanks to the presence of musicians and dancers from the town of Wesport in Ireland and other Celtic regions. Parades, concerts, dance demonstrations and a gala are all on the programme for this wonderful week.
From Friday 13 to Tuesday 17 August, the Vogue funfair is coming to Samoëns. On the programme are attractions and rides for young and old to enjoy with family and friends. You’ll be able to take advantage of the thrill rides, shooting galleries, angling booths and other sweet shops for a fun and friendly time!

Sports fans, come and challenge yourselves to an event that’s as exhilarating as it is physical. The Criou vertical kilometre race, one of the steepest in France, promises a dry climb of 2.059 kilometres and 1000D+. With competitors starting every 20 seconds, you’ll be aiming to reach the summit as quickly as possible. Whether you’re a seasoned amateur or a beginner looking for a thrill, the challenge will be all the greater because you’ll be rubbing shoulders with the best specialists in the discipline to the cheers of the crowd.
