At an altitude of 2,207 metres, the Aouille (peaks in patois) of the Criou is an essential walking destination.
Between rocks and mountain pastures, the view at a glance embraces the valley, the Buet and its 3,200 metres (nicknamed the "Mont Blanc des dames", the highest point in Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval), the Sallière tower, the Pointe Rousse des Chambres (which can be reached from the Folly refuge) and the Dents Blanches massif.
This hike takes you to the summit of the Criou, the symbolic mountain towering over the town of Samoëns. There is a breathtaking panoramic view from the summit over the Giffre Valley, Mont Buet, Rousse des Chambres and Les Dents Blanches.
The shortest and steepest in the world!
