Let's discover an old 19th-century farmhouse in the heart of nature, on the slopes of the Giffre mountains. Here you'll discover the traditional life of yesteryear.
Visit proposed with the Savoie Mont Blanc Heritage Guides.
Animations around the bread oven for the summer period
Born out of the desire to revive a traditional farm dating back to 1815, the Clos Parchet ecomuseum opened its doors in 1994 and welcomes the public during guided tours led by the Guides du Patrimoine des Pays de Savoie.
This farm, listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments, has been restored in the old style and furnished in the spirit of the 19th century. The main building evokes the life at that time thanks to the kitchen (la cuzna), the main room (le pèle), the stables, the hay barn, as well as the annex buildings (bread oven, attic, and shed). An inventoried collection of more than 2000 utensils illustrates the work in the fields and the old trades specific to the upper Giffre valley: agro-pastoralism, traditional crops, wood and stone work, etc...
Testimony to the family's movement according to altitude and seasons, this stir farm is located at an altitude of 1000 m on the adrets (the southern slope) of Samoëns. With the passing of time, it has gone from a temporary "mayeu" habitat to a permanent inhabitant. Finally abandoned, its environment intended for grazing must be safeguarded and enhanced.
The visit ends with a conviviality around a tasting of regional products.

Opened in 1994 by Simone and Pierre Déchavassine, the ecomuseum invites you to go back in time... With the Guides du Patrimoine Savoie Mont Blanc (GPSMB), discover the history and life of the Haut-Giffre in the Clos Parchet farmhouse dating from 1815, in harmony with nature and the seasons.
Summer courses: traditional Savoy songs, wood carving, water colour memories of holidays, traditional woodworking Reduction for larger families. (Third child free.)
The Clos Parchet Ecomuseum transmits the memory of a traditional way of life that was respectful of its environment, where nothing was wasted and where families were self-sufficient in terms of food (animal husbandry, cultivation of cereals and vegetable gardens) and materials (manufacture of all necessary objects from wood, repair of objects, absence of consumerism)
