Guided tour of the rural heritage in the villages of Les Vallons. Breathe in the fresh air in this pretty little valley where the scenery is dotted with farmhouses and outbuildings such as barns, vegetable plots, sheds and orchards.
See the fountains and the 17th-century chapel.
All along the way, the Guides du Patrimoine Savoie Mont Blanc will give you insights into the everyday life of a village that has discreetly embraced tourism as a means of keeping itself alive, while continuing with its traditional crop and livestock farming. See the traces of the masons and stonecutters of the Upper Giffre Valley and follow in the footsteps of the first tourists, in the 19th century.
Duration 1h30 to 2h15. In English on request.
Walk on flat terrain with no difficulties. Walking or sports shoes recommended for a mostly asphalt route + a section on a dirt track that may be slightly muddy or snow-covered.
Access to the Vallons with your car, so think about carpooling!
Private vehicle recommended: meet at the Samoëns Tourist Office then drive to the first buildings in Vallon d'en bas.
For school parties (kindergartens or primary schools), special interest tours can be arranged by request e.g. the use of timber in rural housing, finding out about rural housing and drawing what they see all along the walk etc. If you have any particular requests, please contact Violaine well in advance of your visit.
