The large linden tree, a symbol of social life
With the Criou, the large linden tree, planted in the place of the same name, is one of the emblems of Samoëns where it has been spreading its branches since the 15th century. Indifferent in the course of human life, he is nevertheless the privileged witness. “It is a patriotic tree, it was very important for the ancestors,” explains Mickaël Meynet. It is a symbol of social life, the tree of the institutions that have been created under his foliage. Impressive with its 9 meter wingspan, surrounded by a coping and a flower massif, it is still the site of all the important meetings of the village.
