Samoëns, a village resort in the Grand Massif area, nestling in the heart of the Haut-Giffre mountains in Haute-Savoie, has for many years been developing its destination to enable an inclusive holiday for all, local residents and visitors alike. With its adapted facilities and activities, Samoëns aims to be the ideal mountain destination for all disabled people in Haute-Savoie, in summer and winter alike. Our aim: to make the mountains accessible to everyone!

Samoëns, a village accessible to people with reduced mobility and disabilities.

In Samoëns, in the heart of a thousand-year-old village not necessarily adapted to the needs of the disabled, the facilities have been designed to meet their needs as effectively as possible. As soon as you arrive in the resort, no fewer than 43 parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility are available throughout the village.

Two routes have been designed to take you to the village’s main points of interest. The first is between the Base de loisirs du Lac aux Dames and the Grand Massif Express cable car, and the second is through the heart of the village, where you can discover the heritage and authenticity of Samöens. Finally, accessible public toilets are available at the Guide and ESF offices and at the Grand Massif Express gondola departure point.

As for the resort’s professionals, many hotels, gîtes, chalets, holiday homes, holiday villages, campsites, restaurants, shops and craftsmen welcome people with reduced mobility in specially adapted areas. To find out more, download the brochure “Samoëns for everyone”.

Le ski accessible à tous - handisport

On the slopes: discover handiskiing at Samoëns in the Grand Massif ski area

Whatever the skier’s disability, the resort’s professionals help them to enjoy the pleasures of skiing in complete safety: seated skiers in a tandem led by an instructor, in a dualski or uniski, visually impaired, single-legged, mentally impaired or deaf and hard of hearing… The instructors from Samoëns Handiglisse, the ESF or the ZigZag ski school teach skiers to become independent and enjoy the slopes in complete freedom!

In the Grand Massif ski area, 24 ski lifts are accessible in the five resorts in the area, and a 50% reduction is offered on the public rate (on presentation of a disability card and provided you are over 80% disabled). In terms of equipment, Samoëns Handiglisse provides free access to the equipment needed for handiskiing, whether or not accompanied by mountain professionals qualified in activities for people with reduced mobility. The association has 2 tandemski, 3 tandemflex, 2 Dualski, 3 Uniski and lots of other equipment! Don’t hesitate to contact them for more information.
